Wander
Mrs. Kelly Wander
Hi, everyone! My name is Mrs. Wander and I am the art teacher at Whitesboro Middle School. I'm very excited to begin creating art with all of you. I will be teaching at Parkway (6th) and the Middle School (7th/8th). I will also be running an art club for 6th grade students at Parkway!
A little bit about myself: I actually went to school in Whitesboro! I started off at Hart's Hill Elementary, then continued on until I graduated in 2006. From there, I went to school at Mohawk Valley Community College (Associates Degree in Fine Art), SUNY Oneonta (Bachelors Degree in Art with a concentration in Design and a minor in Computer Art), and Nazareth College (Masters in Science in Art Education Birth-12th) to become an art teacher. I worked at Little Falls Middle School for seven years before my job at Whitesboro. This year is my fifth year teaching here - so my 12th year teaching all together! It feels really good to be back at my "old stomping grounds". I can't wait to create memories with the rest of you as you continue your years in Whitesboro.
Family is so very important to me. I have a husband (who teaches special education 3-5 at Harts Hill Elementary), a daughter named Josephine (6), and a son named Colin (3). My daughter is in first grade at Harts Hill. I also have two brothers (one who lives in Whitesboro and one in CT) and my parents who live in Whitesboro!
In my "free time" (there is no free time when you have two young children), I really enjoy renovating my house (we moved in the summer of 2020, but there is always something to do) and creating art. I love to paint and draw with pencil. I spend a lot of time painting and creating for other people that I don't really get time to make art for myself! While you spend your time in the art room this year, I will be sure to show you some projects I have created. I hope you will show me some projects you have been working on during your free time.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
